Plastic Coating
Plastic-coated optics are used in consumer electronics, industrial, military and medical applications. Their use as an optical material affords a lot of flexibility for optical designers during the optical design process and potential cost savings in the overall optical sub-system. Plastic-coated optics can be molded with mounts as part of the optic, reducing the need for complex mounting schemes.
EMF specializes in coating plastic substrates for optical and decorative applications.
- Reflective metal coatings, which include protected and enhanced Gold, Aluminum, and Silver
- Single and multi-layer Broadband Anti-Reflection (BBAR) coatings
With flexible tooling and 26 vacuum coating chambers providing 40 million sq. in. of annual coating capacity, EMF can very easily manage large formats and high volume. It can coat a wide variety of substrates including Zeonex, polycarbonate, PMMA, PET, PEEK, Acrylic and CR-39.
EMF has coated over 1.7 million plastic optics over the past 8 years without a single field failure.
